George Leon JAMES

June 22, 1921 — January 29, 2009

JAMES, George Leon - Age 87, of Mundy Township, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 2, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road (just south of Hill Road), Flint. Rev. E. Taveirne officiating. Burial immediately following at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to a charity of your choice. George was born June 22, 1921 in Campbell, MO, the son of John Arthur and Mattie Viola (Adams) James. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He married Neoma Louise Horton August 25, 1945 in Flint and she preceded him in death November 25, 2000. George retired in 1984 from C & O Railroad as a conductor. He and his wife Neoma also owned and operated Leon's Market from 1956 to 1973. He was a life member of the Swartz Creek Masonic Lodge #458 F & AM. Surviving are: son, Danny Lee and wife Carole James of Raleigh, NC; 2 sisters, Joyce Wanda Hunt of Flint and Betty Janiece Arthur of Flint; sisters-in-law, Joyce James of Joslin TN, Tymn James of Flint and Margie Horton of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol Lynn James; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
