FIRESTONE, George Warren, Jr. - Age 80 of Grand Blanc, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis Wolverton Post #3243. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Thursday, 1-4 & 6-9 PM Friday. George was born February 7, 1926 in Albany, NY, the son of George Warren and Phoebe Jane (Shourds) Firestone. Mr. Firestone was a graduate of Fenton High School and was a veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII. He worked as a dairy farmer for over 50 years. Mr. Firestone also was a bus driver for Lake Fenton Schools for 17 years, and later served on the Lake Fenton School Board for many years. For the past ten years he had been employed by Mt. Holly. Surviving are: wife Ann; children, Paul and wife Barb Firestone, Bruce and wife Nancy Firestone, Sally Firestone; nine grandchildren, Brandi, Adam, Jared, Jacob, Todd, Tanya, Chad, Brett and Chelsi; four great-grandchildren, Brock, Belle, Zane and John; sisters, Doris and Alma; brother, Dave. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy.
