FARHAT, George Said (Sa‘eed) Farhat - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Said Farhat, age 85, of Fenton, who departed this life on November 23, 2024, following a decades-long battle with congestive heart failure and chronic kidney disease. George was born on October 7, 1939, in Haifa, Palestine, to Said and Bahia (Hannoun) Farhat. His life journey began with adversity, as he faced the loss of both parents by the age of 13. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, George immigrated from Lebanon alone at the age of 16, in September 1956, embodying the spirit of the American Dream. On November 25, 1961, George married Joan Karol, who lovingly supported him throughout his life until her passing on May 29, 2022. Together, they raised a loving family that continued to grow and thrive. George and Joan embodied the spirit of hospitality, hosting numerous family gatherings during their marriage. George had a successful career as a salesman with Schering-Plough Corporation, touching the lives of many with his dedication and work ethic. George’s passions included cooking Lebanese cuisine and reading. His knowledge of world history and geography was impressive. George’s love and pride for his Lebanese heritage was admirable. He cherished his family deeply and is survived by his son, Michael (Karen) Farhat of Monticello, FL; daughter, Kathy (Steven Tomaszewski) Farhat-Tomaszewski; and grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Hales, Nicholas Farhat, Mikayla Farhat-Tomaszewski, Katelyn (James) Adamus, Ashley (Colin Zaporski) Farhat-Tomaszewski, Madison (Michael Nadolski) Farhat-Tomaszewski, and Caden Farhat-Tomaszewski. He is also survived by his siblings, Laurice Sardy, Mary Fotis, Edmond (Christine) Farhat, and Jamal (Patricia) Farhat, along with his sister-in-law Kathleen Farhat and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, Said and Bahia Farhat; his beloved wife, Joan Farhat; son, James Farhat; and siblings, Georgette Farhat, Said Farhat, Maurice Farhat, and Anis Farhat. George was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Lody Farhat (Anis); James Fotis (Mary); and Salim Sardy (Laurice). The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to George's devoted caregivers, Judy Bouton and Jacqui Yankas, for their kindness and exceptional support during his later years.
