CATTON, George A. Â Age 81, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Monday, November 28, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd. (just south of Hill Rd.) Flint. The family will receive friends from 12 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to The American Kidney Foundation. Mr. Catton was born March 3, 1924 in White Pigeon, MI, the son of Van A. and Vemba (Evans) Catton. He was a graduate of White Pigeon High School. Mr. Catton served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 87th Army Field Artillery where he received the Bronze Star and had fought in five European Invasions, including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Catton married Roberta Hornsby on February 27, 1948 IN Clinton, MI. He retired from the Michigan State Police as Captain of the Fire Marshall Division in 1975 after 29 years of service and earned 4 meritorious awards. He was also the Director of Operations at Oakland University from 1975-1986. Mr. Catton was a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #175, where he was a 33rd degree Mason, Bay City Scottish Rite; Grand Blanc American Legion #0413. Â Surviving are: wife, Roberta; five children, William and wife, Susan of Grand Blanc, Robert and wife, Cheryl of Ann Arbor, Lizabeth Catton of Richmond, VA, Brian Catton of Ann Arbor, Barbara Allen of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Christopher, Erik, Alex, Megan, Brittany, Lauren.
