George Burton, Sr.

BURTON, George Franklin, Sr. - age 81, of Flint, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Services will be held 10 AM Monday, June 2, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to American Cancer Society. George was born April 1, 1933 in Portageville, MO, the son of Wesley and Elizabeth (Williams) Burton. He married Maxine Paulette Robinson in April 2, 1960 and she preceded him in death April 17, 2001. Mr. Burton retired from General Motors Metal Fabrication in 1985 after 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 659 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Surviving are: son, George (Teresa) Burton, Jr.; 6 grandchildren, Andrea (Jeremy) Tischler, Crystal (Kyle) Herington, Wesley and Edith Burton, Terry (Robert) Cook, Aaron Clingingsmith; 5 great-grandchildren, Dakota, Jonah, William, George, and Madison; sister, Kathryn Knowland; brother-in-law, Arthur Glastter.
