George Acheff

ACHEFF, George Ward- Age 87, of Flushing, died October 7, 2015. Services will be held 11:30 AM Friday, October 9 at the Sunset Mausoleum at Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Rd., Flint. Visitation 10:30 - 11:30 AM Friday at the mausoleum. Those desiring may make contributions to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 East Copas Road, Owosso, MI 48867. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. George was born June 21, 1928 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Daniel Acheff and Dora (Ward) Acheff. George served in the Merchant Marines from age 15-17, and then U.S. Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Gwendolyn Fullhart in 1946 in Waukegon, IL; she preceded him in death July 22, 2006. He worked at General Motors first at the Tank Plant and then at Fisher Body Coldwater retiring with 40 years of service. Surviving are: three children, Lawrence (Gwen) Acheff of Schererville, IN, Dennis (Marilyn) Acheff of Flushing, Susan (Gary) Phillips, Omaha NE; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother Jack Acheff. He was preceded in death by parents; wife; and siblings, Daniel, Dora Mae, Marjorie, James and David. The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff at American House.
