Genevieve Louisa REDICK

REDICK, Genevieve Louisa, (Zimmerman)age 85, of Flushing, formerly of Flint, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Birchwood Meadows. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Pastor Jeremy Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Genevieve was born June 6, 1924 in Flint the daughter of the late Angus Albert and Bernice Gertrude (Johnson) Zimmerman. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School in 1942. Genevieve married Wayne Redick in California in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1969. She was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Women's Army Corp. Genevieve was employed at A.C. Spark Plug for 18 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a former member of First General Baptist Church, a volunteer at Genesee Memorial Hospital and Whaley Historical Home. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Bracey of Holly; 2 step-sons, Robert Redick (Liz) of Hannibal, MO, William Redick (Lois) of Bakersfield, CA; grandson, Wayne Bracey; 8 step-grandchildren, William, Michael Jennifer, Wayne, Crystal, David, Laura and Trevor Redick; 12 great-grandchildren and most recent, Carter; step-brother, Robert Brown of Petosky; sister-in-law, Edith Zimmerman and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by brother, Charles Zimmerman; sister, Marjorie Callahan; sister-in-law Helen Brown; and 2 loving nieces, Laura and Kathleen. The family extends thanks to the complete staff of Birchwood Meadows for all of their good care of Genevieve and also thanks to Avalon Hospice Nurse Linda and Avalon Hospice Aide Shirley for their tireless devotion.
