Gene "Genie" L. Smethwick

Gene L. "Genie" Smethwick, age 80, of Flint, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM, at Sharp Funeral Homes & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Born February 19, 1945, in Fremont, Michigan, to Robert and Doris, Genie worked at General Motors for over 22 years before retiring in 1990. In retirement, her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren and later becoming a beloved nanny in her neighborhood. She adored flowers, shopping trips, and most of all, her faith in Jesus.

Genie is lovingly remembered by her children, Robert (Tina) Graves and Jerri Graves; grandchildren, Zachary (Anastasiia) Graves, Jared (Melyssa) Graves, Lena and Lana Hoang; former spouse, Jerry Graves; siblings, Lanny Johnson, Nancy (Gary) Berdinski, and Gary (Kathy) Gay; many nieces and nephews and cherished friends Jim (Dep) Hoang, Marilyn Mitchell, Debbie Fosketts, and Mimi Robinson.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Larry Nelson, and brother-in-law Jerry Johnson.
