NELSON, Gaylord Wayne  Age 82, of Swartz Creek, died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:30 Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Swartz Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. J.D. Landis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 PM Thursday and 11-4 and 6-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.  Mr. Nelson was born October 10, 1923 in Flint, the son of Carl Ferdinand and Anna Laura (Frye) Nelson. He had resided in Swartz Creek his entire life and was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Mr. Nelson married Nellie M. Crawford on February 7, 1942 in Swartz Creek and she preceded him in death on March 1, 2003. Mr. Nelson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as a 2nd lieutenant during World War II. He retired from Bell Telephone after 39 years of service and also owned Nelson Farm where he grew up. Mr. Nelson was a member o f the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. Surviving are: four children, Judy (Jerry) Dudley of Swartz Creek, John (Tammy) Nelson of Pinetop, AZ, Janet (Ray) Chandler, Barbara Boxell, all of Swartz Creek; special grandchild, Travis Boxell and his daughter, Darianne who have taken care of their grandpa for the past three years; 16 grandchildren, Laurie, Julie, Curty, Rhonda, Wendy, Jonny, Matt, Stefani. Scott, Brent, Dan, Andy, Nici, Josh, Travis, Steve; 26 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Nelson of Onstead, MI, Carl (Hope) Nelson of St. Charles, Curvin (Martha) Nelson of Swartz Creek, Phillip (Adelaide) Alexander of Lennon; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: daughter, Linda Anderson; grandson, Joey Nelson; three brothers, Ivan, Howard and John; two sisters, Virginia Baumbach and Ruth Alexander.
