Gary was born November 13, 1947 in Detroit, the son of Daniel E. and Dorothy J. (Small) MacDermaid. He was a 1965 graduate of Northville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Gary married Linda C. Noel on November 14, 1970 in Penndel, PA. He resided in Fenton since 1994, after spending 20 years in Wixom. Gary retired in 2002 after 34 years as a US Postal Service letter carrier. Gary was a private pilot out of New Hudson Airport. He rode motorcycles, played golf, and tinkered on his classic cars. Known as “Poppop” to many, he actually liked mowing his lawn, giving energy conservation tips (“turn off the lights!”) and reminding his grandchildren to check their oil. Gary’s family was precious to him, and to honor his memory, please spend time with your family and cherish the smiles and laughter.
Surviving are: his dedicated wife of 51 years, Linda; daughter, Sandra Monroe of Fenton; son, Daniel (Michelle) MacDermaid of Hartland; granddaughters, Rhiannon Sehl, Teaghen Sehl, Maddison MacDermaid, and Teryn Sehl; grandson Nathaniel MacDermaid; step-granddaughters, Brittney Broadworth, Alicea Brondstetter; brother, Craig (Judy) MacDermaid of Fowlerville; sisters, Gail Gladfelter of Fowlerville, Denise (Larry) Horner of South Carolina, and Carolyn (Randy) Coble of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
