Garnet Thomson

Thomson, Garnet O. - Age 80 , of Swartz Creek, died January 10, 2016 after a short illness. Private burial at Flint Memorial Park. A memorial service will be announced later. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital. Garnet was born April 20, 1935 in Flint the son of Garnet O. Thomson Sr. and Helen S. (Ross) Thomson. He was a 1953 graduate of Flushing High School. He joined the Navy Reserve at the age of 17 and served for 8 years. Garnet married Phyllis A. Davis on September 20, 1958 in Flint. He retired from Chevrolet Manufacturing in 1985 at the age of 49 with 31 years of service as a tool maker. He had also worked for Allied Tool for two years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and researching information on the computer. He loved meeting family and friends for breakfast especially at Valley Coney Island where he enjoyed the company of the waitresses so much. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, Bruce and Denise Thomson, Beth and Mark Munsell, Brenda and Ernie Moulton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with longtime friend Tom Early. Surviving are: wife of 57 years Phyllis; sisters, Sheila Fencl, June and Jerry Powley, Arlene Langley; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great- nieces and great-great-nephews.
