JAMISON, Galen -- Age 71, of Flint Township, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday, May 21 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Saturday, 1-4 and 6-9 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Flint Township Heroes Plaza. Mr. Jamison was born September 23, 1935 in Green County, AR, the son of Beldon and Adell Jamison. He was a graduate of Central Michigan University and he had attended Arkansas State College and GMI. He had resided in Flint Township over 50 years. Mr. Jamison married Shirley J. Earns in 1955 in Flint. He retired from G.M. as General Supervisor. He was currently serving as the Flint Township Chief Building Director and Chairman of the Genesee County Road Commission. He was a State of Michigan Licensed Residential Builder and State of Michigan Registered Codes Official and Inspector, and Commercial Plan Reviewer. Mr. Jamison was elected as Flint Township Supervisor and served 4 years, he also served many other positions with Flint Township including: 2 terms as Trustee on Board of Trustees, Liquor Advisory Board for 11 years where he drafted the first ordinance, Planning Commission for 9 years, Board of Appeals for 6 years, Economic Development Authority, Central Business District Authority, Bicentennial Committee, and was Anti Annexation Drive Coordinator. He served on many Genesee County Boards including: Auto and Theft Grant Board (Chairman), Water and Waste Board, Retirement Board, Parks Board, Library Steering Committee, and as Genesee County Michigan Township Association Trustee.  He had previously served on the CAMEO Executive Board and as a Flint Junior Achievement Advisor. He served as the Chairman for the Flushing Road Action Committee for Water for 4 years. Mr. Jamison was awarded the G.M. Truck and Bus Plant Award for excellence in Community Activities. Surviving are: wife of 51 years Shirley; son, Rick Jamison and wife Sally of Flint Township    daughter, Tracey and husband Dennis Tucker of Flint Township; grandchildren, Daniel, Shanna, Jamie, Julie, Amy, Kelly, and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Lola; God Child, Andrea Lewandowski; brothers, Dale of Florida, Randy and Jacksie both of Paragould, AR, Clayton of Doniphan, MO; sister, Janet Fagan of Texas; many nieces and nephews.
