G. Wayne Butts

BUTTS, G. Wayne - age 83, of Fenton, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday and 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Butts was born February 1, 1926 in Grand Blanc, the son of Lester Clinton and Cora Marguerite (Judson) Butts. He married Velma Johane Wolverton on October 1, 1949 and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2008. Mr. Butts was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was employed by Lee Lumber and Fenton Lumber and was the Supervisor of Urban Renewal with the City of Flint for many years. Mr. Butts was a member of the Flint Banjo Club, the Auto City, Banjo Club, Modern Pioneers Camping Club, Pioneer Memorial Association of Fenton / Mundy Twp., the Fenton VFW Curtis Wolverton Post 3243 and the Loose Senior Citizens Center. Surviving are: 3 children, Kathryn and Jack Unger of Fenton, Steven and Cheryl Butts of Swartz Creek, Nancy and Cecil Burton of Clarksville, PA; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leah Dumas, Brian Butts, Lynn Butts and Bruce Butts.
