Frederick William Studinger - Age 89, passed away January 19, 2024. Fred was born December 11, 1934 in Detroit to Fritz and Irmgard Studinger. The oldest of 4 children. He served in the US Army Reserves and retired from General Motors, where he was a wood model maker.
He married his Ukranian sweetheart, Betty Senczyszyn in 1960. They had 3 daughters, Elizabeth (Kevin) Carney, (Children: Rachael (husband Brett Milliman, Erin (Clark Gingras, Elizabeth and Mike Many, Jacob and Elizabeth (Conner), Sarah and Blake Susalski; Melanie Pierce Studinger (David and Courtney Mangus Pierce) and Irma O’Brien, Children: Patrick and Francesca O’Brien, Daniel O’Brien, John and Caroline O’Brien, Cedes Powers and finance Jared Byers; 13 great-grandchildren Jack, Molly, Lucy, Sean, Luke, Joseph, Olivia, Sophia, Charlotte, Bryson, Gabriel, Martin, Theo; Surviving siblings, Fred’s loving brother, Marvin (Carol) Studinger and Kristin Starke.
Preceding Fred in death was his wife, Betty Studinger; his parents; his girlfriend, Patricia Lanckriet, and his brother, Gilbert Studinger.
Fred was happiest when he was at a polka fest dancing and listening to German music. A fabulous accordion player himself, he loved to sing a song to anyone he came in contact with. It didn’t matter where he was, he would randomly start singing and inevitability it would bring a big smile to the recipient.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Monday, January 22, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, with visitation from 10 AM until the time of Mass. Visitation will also be held from 4-7:30PM Saturday, with a 6PM rosary at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton (There will be no visitation on Sunday. Go Lions!). Graveside service will be held 10AM Tuesday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Shepherd's Staff for the addiction ministry at Horizon Church in Costa Rica.
We are grateful to God for his mercy and love to allow us so much time with our father, especially in these past two years. God’s faithfulness and love for healing is something we will cherish forever.
