Frederick Wayne Overland

Frederick Wayne Overland, age 94, of Flint, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at McLaren Flint. A memorial service will be announced for a later date. Arrangements were provided by Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. 

Fred was born on June 14, 1930 in Rexton, MI the son of the late Floyd and Nina (Martindale) Overland. He was raised in Newberry, MI. Fred proudly served in the United States Army from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1952 with the 4th Infantry Division. He worked for the Michigan Carpenters Union 706 in Saginaw for 51 years until his retirement. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the casinos throughout Michigan, and in his free time enjoyed traveling, deer hunting and building houses. 

He is survived by his children, Daniel (Linda) Overland and Cindy (Jerry) Gwyn; 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Bill, Alice, Patrick, Lindsey and Lance; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Linda), Richard, Delores (Mike) and Susie (Gary); and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his, son, Richard; daughter, Ella; granddaughter, Kelly; and brothers, Floyd, Robert and Paul. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
