Frederick W. 'Fred' Markillie

MARKILLIE, Frederick W. Fred  Age 80, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Pastor Robert Dickie officiating. Interment will be held at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Sunday and 2-5 and 6-9 PM Monday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia Foundation. Mr. Markillie was born December 25, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Frederick and Alice I. (Baker) Markillie, Sr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II as a guard to General Bradley and was a member of Flushing VFW Post # 5666. Mr. Markillie married B. Roberta Jones on September 8, 1957 in Belleville, MI. He retired from General Motors as a Security Officer in 1987 after 31 years of service. Surviving are: wife, Roberta of Swartz Creek; seven children, Karen and husband, John Peters of Lecanto, FL, Duane Markillie of Flint, Fred Markillie, Jr. of Panama City, FL, Lori and husband, Gary Hess of Swartz Creek, Keith Markillie of San Francisco, CA, Shellie Markillie of Flint, June Amiot of Modesto, CA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
