Fred Darland

DARLAND, Fred Thomas- Age 71, of Burton., died peacefully at home on Monday February 8, 2021. Funeral services will be held 12PM Friday February 12, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Father Jay Gantz officiating. Visitation will be held 12PM - 2PM and 4PM-8PM Thursday and 11AM until time of service Friday. Fred was born April 25, 1949 in Flint, the son of Fred and Irene (Wolfenden) Darland. He married Mary Ann Maue on August 24, 1981 in Maui, Hawaii. Fred proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, stationed out of Saginaw for many years. Fred retired from General Motors Metal Fabrication plant with 34.5 of service. Mr. Darland was a member of the sit down strikers UAW Local 659. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a member of the Donut Mafia at Donna's Donuts. Surviving are: wife of 39 1/2 years, Mary Ann Darland of Burton; daughter, Lee Haney of NV; granddaughters, Megan and Samantha Haney of NV and K-9 loyal companion Sassy.
