RICHARDSON, Franklin L. - age 89, of Grand Blanc, died October 17, 2022. Private funeral services have been held. Franklin was born February 11, 1933 in Peoria, Oklahoma, the son of Brooks Archibald and Jessie Ethel (Wiles) Richardson and they moved to Flint in 1937. Franklin was a 1951 graduate of Flint Central High School. He married Patsy Lee Boyd on August 25, 1954 in Miami, OK, she preceded him in death in 1998. Franklin obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He continued his education in Evening Classes at GMI He worked as a Senior Industrial Engineer at General Motors Parts Plant (Tank Plant) in Grand Blanc retiring in on May 1, 1988 after 37 years of service. Franklin played AA basketball for several years in the Flint Recreational Leagues in the 1950s. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and playing Euchre. Franklin was an avid University of Michigan sports fan. He enjoyed researching and recording the family tree. Franklin loved being a part of his children and grandchildren's lives. Surviving are: daughter, Alice (Zorian) Sawka; son, Gary (Catherine) Richardson; grandsons, Joseph and Michael Sawka and Lance and Eric Richardson; great-granddaughter, Harper Richardson; sisters, Mary Grossklaus and Grace Ann Gatzemeyer. He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Patsy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Ruth Boyd; sister, Phyllis Hinton; and brother-in-law, William Hinton.
