Frank Edgar Young

Frank Edgar Young, 95, of Grand Blanc, MI, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2023. 
Born in Flint, Michigan, he was the son of Robert John and Bessie (Rowe) Young.  At an early age, Frank met his future wife Joyce, who was his lifelong companion and to whom he was married for 68 years.  Frank graduated from Flint Central High School, attended the University of Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from General Motors Institute.  He was employed by IBM in the typewriter division before becoming the manager of the Flint Medical Arts Building.
An avid golfer his entire life, Frank won the Flint Jr. Golf Championship and many country club championships at the clubs where he and Joyce belonged.  They were charter members of Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, where their family lived for many years. They also held memberships at Flint Golf Club and Atlas Valley Golf Club.  Frank and Joyce shared their love of golf with their children and grandchildren, most of whom still play. Besides golf, Frank played tennis and ping pong and loved to watch and follow many college and professional sports.  In his youth, Frank also enjoyed playing trumpet in local dance bands.  
Frank and Joyce’s retirement years were spent on Lake Fenton, in Clearwater, Florida, and on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, where they were often joined by their children and grandchildren for boating, golf, cards and family fun.   
Frank was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint for many years and an elder.  He was a humble man of integrity, forethought, generosity, and faith. Frank called everyone by name and made it his goal to be kind to all. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Joyce, brother Dallas Young, sister Muriel Young and son-in-law Dwight Macock.  He is survived by his daughters Deborah Macock, Karen Smith (Robert), and Catherine King (Andrew), 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all who will miss him very much.
