Frank Menzel

MENZEL, Frank "Fritz" - age 90, of Linden, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday, April 13, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Thursday and 11 AM - 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Detroit Children's Hospital. Fritz was born November 12, 1927 in Durand, the son of Steve and Marion Menzel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Fritz married Lillian Stilson on September 22, 1972 and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2012. For many years, he was a conductor with Grand Trunk Western Rail Road. He retired from General Motors V-8 Chevy Engine Plant. Fritz was an avid outdoorsman and the World's greatest fisherman. Surviving are: three step-children, Betty Jean Benson of Durand, James Mosher of Fenton; and Bonnie Jo (Steve) Gemmil of Fenton; 11 grandchildren, Bruce Benson of Durand, Bethany (Kurt) Austin of Owosso, James (Diana) Mosher, Jr. of Grand Blanc, Christina (Larry) Green of Fenton, Johanna (Justin) Bolster of Swartz Creek, Margo (John) Chopski of Swartz Creek, Paula (Matt) McClure of Owosso, Stevie (Mark) Naeyaert of Swartz Creek, Stacy Mosher of Fenton, Josie Gemmil of Flint, and Linda (Matt) Bemis of Flushing; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Fritz was preceded in death by: his wife, Lillian; four sisters, Irene, Rose, Margaret, and Goldie; brother, Steve; and great-grandson, Matthew Green.
