Frank Gruner

GRUNER, Frank Marsh - Age 93 of Swartz Creek, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc. A memorial service will take place 11 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. Pastor Aaron Whitman will preside. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until the time of service Tuesday. Private interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Frank was born on April 15, 1930 in Coldwater, Michigan the son of Glen and Clara (Marsh) Gruner. He graduated from Coldwater High School and enrolled in Meinzinger Art School in Detroit until joining the United States Army in 1951. Serving in Korea with the 10th division 329th communications reconnaissance company. Upon returning from his honorable discharge he began working for AT&T Yellow Pages as a commercial Artist where he stayed for 38 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and attending air shows, and pursuing his passion for art through drawings and oil paintings and volunteering at the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, Michigan.

Frank is survived by his loving family, sons, Robert (Janice) Gruner and Scott Gruner; grandchildren, Anthony (Hannah) Gruner, Jonathan (Alyssa) Gruner and Elise (Patrick) Ranville; great-grandchildren, Roman, Nicholas and Samuel. He is also survived by his brother, Tony (Judy); brother-in-law Robert (Jean) Patrick; and several loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pat; brothers, Maynard, Lawrence, Ted and Jack; sister, Ellen Wilkinson; and special cousin Dorothy Crawford. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
