MERRILL, Francis Cleland "Dick" - age 81, of Fenton died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at his residence. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Tuesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a vigil service will be held 7 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Christian Foundation for children and aged. Mr. Merrill was born June 26, 1926 in Cheboygan, the son of Francis O. and Amelia (Kuharski) Merrill. Mr. Merrill was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He married Joanne Lois Friedl on August 23, 1952 and she preceded him in death on June 15, 2003. Mr. Merrill retired from General Motors in 1982 after 31 years of service. Surviving are: four children, Pamela Merrill Myers of Fenton, Donald Merrill of Fenton, Jeffery Merrill of Linden, Lisa (Douglas) Schultz of Fenton; four grandchildren, Shawn, Joseph, Jennifer, Kaitlyn; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Avery; three sisters, Harriet Millhouse of Cheboygan, Natalie Socha of Cheboygan, Marjorie Tate of TN; brother, Bruce (Celia) Merrill of TN; several nieces and nephews.
