ETUE, Francis Joseph 'Funce' - age 83, of Flint, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Crestmont Health Care Facility. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, July 14, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 609 E. Fifth St., Flint with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. The family will receive friends from 12-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a rosary will be prayed at 4 PM Sunday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Paralyzed Veterans of American, 801 Eighteenth St. NW, Washington D.C. 20006-3517. He was the middle brother to seven boys and five sisters born to Leo and Jennie Etue on February 17, 1925. Mr. Etue was a life long resident of Flint, MI. He received his Golden Parishioner Award in 1978 from St. Michael Parish where he also graduated from in 1943. Mr. Etue was honored in 2000 as a member of the Flint Area Hall of Fame. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus Council 695 and a lifelong member of VFW Post 822 and the American Legion. He served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII and Korean Conflict. Mr. Etue was planning a trip with other veterans to Washington DC this month on the Freedom Flight to view the newly completed WWII Memorial. He retired from Dodds-Dumanos Funeral Home in Flint. Surviving are: daughter, Diane (Etue) Fitzpatrick of Fenton; son, Michael Etue of Australia; grandson, Michael Fitzpatrick and wife, Courtney of Ann Arbor; granddaughter, Maggie Lynn Fitzpatrick and Joseph Fritz of Ann Arbor; twin great-grandsons, Samuel and Gabriel Fitzpatrick; former wife and close friend, Beverly (McGee) Etue; siblings, Jack and Ralph Etue and Joan Huber; several nephews, nieces, cousins, wonderful friends and neighbors of Flint, Davison, and Fenton who will miss him. He was preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Vern, Raymond, Fritz, Bernie, Lucille, Madonna, Geraldine, and Delores.
