Frances Mildred RICE

RICE, Frances Mildred - Age 87, of Fenton, died Thursday, July 8, 2010. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Adopt-A-Pet, 13575 Fenton Road, Fenton, MI 48430. Fran was born April 21, 1923 the daughter of Joseph John and Flora Estella (McChaughna) Ecker. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from U of M Flint. She married Hurchel Chancey Rice March 17, 1944 in Meridian, MS and he preceded her in death May 1, 1959. Fran retired from Lake Fenton Community Schools as an teacher after 24 years of service. Surviving are: 3 children, Douglas Rice of Fair Oaks, CA, Ann Hommer of Fenton and Jean Rice and husband Peter Heinaru of Port Townsend, WA; 3 grandchildren, Timothy and wife Gina Hommer, Kerri and husband Timothy McArthur and Ian Rice; 5 great grandchildren, Alexandra and Matt Hommer, Brianna, Scott and Jessica McArthur.
