Frances Egan

EGAN, Frances E. - Age 85, of Flint, returned to God's hands, June 10, 2019. A memorial service will be held 4 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Flint Chapel, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will begin at 3 PM Thursday until the time of service at 4 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County. Frances was born May 18, 1934 in Flint, the daughter of Elizabeth and Coger McClain. Frances married Bernard "Bud" Newman in August 1952, enjoying many happy years of marriage until his passing in 1964. As a young wife and mother she worked as a nurse and later became the owner of Al's Place in Flint in the 1960s and 70s. She was married again in 1978 to the late Michael Egan. She was a dedicated fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for more than a decade. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Daniel) McIntosh; son, Bernard Newman, Jr; grandchildren, Christina (Adam Hedgcock) McIntosh, Joanna (John Savage) McIntosh, Rebekah (Dave) Franz; great grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Myles, Zachary and Alexander; siblings, Rosan, Sharon, Janet, Terry, Eva, Lewis, David, Leland, James. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Bud and Mike.
