TUNK, Florence A. - age 83, of Argentine Twp., died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at her residence of a heart attack after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, September 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 118 Lord St., Gaines with Fr. Frank Ekhert celebrant. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM Saturday and Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden where a scripture service will be held 6:30 Sunday evening with Sister Ann Marie Petri presiding. Visitation will also be held 10 AM until the time of Mass Monday at the church. Florence was born April 16, 1923 in Butler Junction, PA, the daughter of Walter and Josephine Niedzwiecki. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the WAVES and stationed in Grosse Isle and Miami, FL during World War II. Florence married Chester Tunk on June 15, 1946 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2005. Florence enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and sewing. She loved the quiet life on Myers Lake during each beautiful season and also enjoyed traveling to many historic and natural sights of significance across this magnificent country. Surviving are: daughter, Nancy (Claude) Horton; son, Thomas; grandchildren, John Horton, Jennifer (Martin) Lomasney; great grandchildren, Josephine, Noah, Adelaide and Lillian Lomasney; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Helen, Joe, and John. 'To live on in hearts we leave behind, is not to die'.
