Florence "Flo" Lucille Homent

Florence “Flo” Lucille Homent, age 80, of Linden, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 8, 2024. 

Flo was born on August 14, 1944, in Detroit, MI, to the late Nicholas and Clara (Alberski) Schenk. She graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit and later attended cosmetology school. Flo was a successful business woman, and she took great pride in her work. On October 1, 1965, she was united in marriage to her best friend and soulmate, Richard Homent. Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 13, 2014. 

To know Flo was to love her. She had a rare and beautiful gift of making everyone around her feel special, loved, and seen. With her down-to-earth, compassionate nature and unwavering generosity, Flo touched the lives of all who knew her. She never passed judgment and was always a listening ear. Her wisdom, strength, and grace were a constant source of inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to know her. 

Flo was always the first to celebrate every milestone—big or small—and her smile was contagious. She had an immense passion for gardening, constantly challenging herself to grow the rarest of blooms. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and selflessness. Flo's warmth and light will continue to shine through those who knew and loved her. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Wendy (Dave) Maxheimer, Holly (Mark) Feetham, and Randie (Brian) Kelley; six grandchildren, Madison Maxheimer, Grant Maxheimer, Emily (Skyler) Ruiz, Garrett Feetham (Kileah), Maggie Kelley, and Carson Kelley; two brothers, Doug (Anita) Schenk and Danny (Elaine) Schenk; and sister-in-law, Maria Schenk.

In addition to her parents and husband, Flo was preceded in death by her three brothers, Nick Schenk, Robert, and Frank Rogers.
