Finley Hobson

HOBSON, Finley Jack - Age 88, of Flint, died Friday, July 11, 2014. Funeral services will be held 1PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held 5PM to 8PM Monday and 11AM until time of service Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Finley was born in Elk Park, North Carolina on June 4, 1926 the son of the late Alfonzo A. and Mary Ann (Oaks) Hobson. Finley married Hazel Marie Vanover in Johnson City, Tennessee on November 24, 1948, she preceded him in death on August 18, 1994. Mr. Hobson was an avid reader and loved to spend time with his grand and great grand children. Finley retired from General Motors V-8 Chevy engine plant with 32 years of service. He was 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Holly, Michigan. Surviving are: children, Brenda (Larry) Stratton of Clio, Richard (Kay) Hobson of Clio, Ken (Amy) Hobson of Brighton, MI; daughter-in-law Janie Wright of Flint; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Vanover of Burton; special family friend; Gerry Fahey of Flint. He was also preceded in death by his sons Jimmy Wright in 2009, Tommy Wright in 2011; 1 brother ; 3 sisters and brother-in-law Roy Vanover.
