Evelyn Marie Wendel was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, Great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world On December 2, 2023. A Memorial service will be held 11 AM Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Hill Creek Church of God with visitation 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Hill Creek Church. Services provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton.
She was born to Ivan and Viola Bays on April 11, 1935. She attended Lee College where she met her long time husband Milton. They enjoyed a happy and successful marriage for 56 years.
Evelyn loved spending time crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She taught masterclasses passing these skills on to the next generation, including her children and grandchildren. She was a godly woman who never missed worshiping in the Lord’s house every time the doors were open. She made sure that all of her children had and maintained a healthy relationship with the Lord. As a result, all grew up into full time ministry positions. Her faith was contagious, us and she passed that passion for the Lord on to all those that were around her. She held various jobs through out her life, doing whatever it took to make sure that her family had what they needed to not just survive, but thrive. She was a hardworking, compassionate woman of God.
Evelyn is survived by her children Renee’ DeLong, Sonya Smith (Matt), and Craig Wendel (Patti); Grandchildren, Jillian, Justin, Ashley, Lindsey, Emily, Drew, Zachary, Sierra, Phoebe, Noah and Amanda; Great-Grandchildren, Wesley, Eleanor, Solomon, Emmitt, Ethan, Eliana, Hannah, and Jaden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; Parents Ivan and Viola Bays; and Sister Judy Gruetzner.
