Evelyn Sheldon

Sheldon, Evelyn Estelle - Age 93 of Deltona, Florida formerly of Swartz Creek, died March 14, 2018. Funeral Service will be held 1PM Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with Pastor Tom Wachterhauser officiating. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be from 11AM until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made online to Fisher House (www.fisherhouse.org/). Evelyn was born June 12, 1924 in Balls Landing, KY, the daughter of Edmon Lee and Naomi Estelle (Morgan) Smither. She was a Civil Service employee at Lunken Army Air Corp base in Ohio during World War II where she met Maurice Sheldon. They were married June 22, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1998. Evelyn retired from General Motors Service Parts Operations as an Executive Administrator in the Finance Department. She was active in Barnett Memorial United Methodist Church in Deltona, FL and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Swartz Creek VFW Post # 3720 Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hatters in Florida. Evelyn was an enthusiastic supporter of the U.S. Military Service members and volunteered to pack care packages for the troops overseas. She played on many women's golf leagues enjoyed baking and AARP trips. Evelyn always hosted the 4:30 PM Happy Hour with her condominium community friends in Florida. Surviving are: daughter, Lyann Somers; two grandchildren, Sarah (Ronald) Whitehead and David (Mary) Provost; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Mina, Deanna, Vance and Gavin; great great-granddaughter, Violet, who made the fifth generation of the family; dear friend, Charlotte Lawton. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; brother, Charles R. Smither; and three sisters, Ann Ries, Ruth Ellis, and Imogene Parker. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
