Evelyn Fern Jones

JONES, Evelyn Fern, age 76, of Flint, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Services will be 11AM Friday, November 7, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Jim Garfield officiating. Interment will follow at Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 12-8PM Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star Service will be 7PM Thursday, followed by V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service at 7:30PM. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Evelyn was born May 17, 1932 in Flushing, the daughter of the late Raymond Potter and Blanche (Fairbanks) Meredith. She graduated in 1950 from Utley High School and later earned her Nursing Degree from Flint Junior College. Evelyn was employed by Hurley Hospital for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. She was Past President of V.F.W. Post #3087 Ladies Auxiliary as well as Past Chaplain and Worthy Matron of Linden Chapter #175 Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are her loving partner, Donald Jones; 3 children, Carole Franzel (Leonard) of Avon Park, FL, Michael Jones of Flint, Cindy Myers (Greg) of Morrice; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Laverne Potter (Delores); step-sister, Barbara Nielson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roy; grandson, Christopher; sister, Patricia; stepfather, Charles Meredith.
