O'BRIEN, Evelene J. - Age 85, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, February 2, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Wednesday and 2-5 and 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring can make memorial contributions to South Mundy United Methodist Church. Mrs. O'Brien was born December 28, 1921 in Gaines Twp., the daughter of Robert and Eva (Abbey) Herrick. She married Charles E. O'Brien on October 16, 1943 in Rankin, and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was a 1939 graduate of Swartz Creek High School and earned her nursing degree through Saginaw General Hospital. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Genesee Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1984 after 27 years of service. Mrs. O'Brien was a member of South Mundy United Methodist Church and their women's group, and the Rankin Handy Hands. She had served on the Advisory Board of Olsten Health Care of Flint. Surviving are 4 children, Colleen Spencer of Charlotte, N.C., Robert O'Brien and Michelle Coan of Swartz Creek, Terry O'Brien of Swartz Creek, Diane and husband Michael Dowler of Swartz Creek; 4 grandchildren, Patrick O'Brien, Elizabeth 'Libbi' and husband Jamie MacDonald, Charles and wife Kathleen Spencer, Robert Dowler; daughter-in-law, Teresa O'Brien of Swartz Creek; son-in-law, Stewart Spencer of Charlotte, NC.
