AVENDT, Eve Margaret  Age 77, loving mother and grandmother, of Fenton, formerly of Temperance, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, July 10, 2004 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Rev. Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Burial will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Visitation will be held 2-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, where a rosary will be recited at 5 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.  Mrs. Avendt was born January 22, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of Luigi and Amalia (Mosesso) DAlessandro. She was married to Raymond J. Avendt on September 6, 1947 in Detroit; he preceded her in death in 1972. Mrs. Avendt had lived in Temperance for many years before moving to Fenton in 1998. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a former member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance. Mrs. Avendt was very active in her community and served on various civic and community boards.  She was a longtime member of the Engineering Society of Detroit and the Women in Construction Industry Association. This followed her tenure as President of the R.J. Avendt Construction Company in the early 1960s. She served as Monroe County Deputy Drain Commissioner for 25 years, was the treasurer of Monroe County Credit Union, city administrator of South Rockwood, served on the boards for Monroe County Mental Health and the American Cancer Society. In Bedford Township, she served as Chair of the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, and served on the Bedford Library Advisory Board. She also served on the board of directors for Coachlight Pines. Mrs. Avendt received the Professional Business Woman of the Year award from Gov. James Blanchard. She also was awarded the Governors Minute Man Award. She was active in the democratic party on both the local and state levels. She was the loving mother of Raymond J. Avendt III and wife Bridget of Brighton, Barbara Avendt-Rhoades and husband Jon of Temperance, Robert M. Avendt and wife Karol E. of Fenton, John T. Avendt of Temperance, Patrick J. Avendt and wife Maureen of Chicago. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, James DAlessandro of Harper Woods, Joseph DAlessandro of Clinton Twp., Linda Glodich of Warren, Robert DAllesandro of Bloomfield.
