Evan Barriger

BARRIGER, Evan Jamison - Age 31, of Holly, passed away, August 11, 2021. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Monday, August 16, 2021 at Cornerstone Church of Highland 4995 N. Hickory Ridge Rd., Highland. Pastor Tim Forsthoff, Pastor Lucas Forsthoff and Minister Aaron Malmquist officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM until the time of service Monday at Church. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton.  Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Scholarship Fund for Future Ignited Ministry Academy Students or to the Go Fund Me Account for Kendra and Baby Girl Barriger.

Evan was born August 27, 1989 in Romeo, the son of William J. and SueEllen (Malenfant) Barriger. He married Kendra R. Kolean in Bay City on October 11, 2014. Evan was a pastor at his home church and the director of the Ignited Ministry Academy, an internship opportunity for young adults to learn about ministry, grow in their walk with the Lord and discover their calling. He was passionate about seeing lives changed and disciples made for Christ.

It was not rare to find Evan drinking coffee at an absurd hour of the day, stumping someone with a deep question, making up songs, or bringing uplifting words to someone in need of encouragement. He’d find any reason to go fishing or linger in a good conversation with a stranger or a close friend. Evan and his wife, Kendra, had been married for almost seven amazing years, FULL of life and authentic love. They enjoyed doing ministry together, spending quality time with their favorite people, and finding any reason to embark on an adventure! They loved dreaming about the future, while also being fully present in every moment together.

Evan's life verse was Isaiah 41:10. "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Evan is survived by: his wife, Kendra; unborn daughter; parents William J. and SueEllen (Malenfant) Barriger; siblings, Eliott Barriger, Emilee (Jedson) Winter, Evylinn Barriger, and Emerson Barriger; grandparents, Jerry and Lorraine Barriger; father and mother in law, James and Renee Kolean; sister in law, Krista (Evan) Strom; and several nieces and nephews.
