Eugene Smigiel

SMIGIEL, Eugene John "Oscar" - Age 92, of Grand Blanc, died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton and from 10 AM until the time of Mass Thursday at church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or Fenton Adopt-A-Pet. Eugene was born May 30, 1922 in Flint, the son of Joseph and Sophie (Jagielski) Smigiel. He was married to Rose Santa on May 24, 1947 in Flint; she preceded him in death on March 8, 2015. Mr. Smigiel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII and retired from AC Spark Plug in 1980 after 39 years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was an active member of Sacred Heart Church for many years, Dom Polski Club, V.F.W. Post #3243. He also enjoyed dancing well in to his late 70's. Surviving are: children, Elaine and husband Larry Skindzier, Tim and wife Georgeann Smigiel, Dominee and husband Scott Robinson; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Jasinski; brother, Ed Smigiel; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hattie, Mary, Helen, Annie, Stella, Katherine and Victoria; brothers, Louie and John.
