Lindstrom, Eugene Nils “Gene” - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 4, 2024. Visitation will be held on April 12th, 4 to 8 pm and on April 13th, 10 to 11 am at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Don Albright will be held on Saturday, April 13th, at 11 am at the funeral home with a Live Stream available on Gene’s obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to Gideons International.
Gene was born February 14, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Nils and Jessie (Kell) Lindstrom. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as an aircraft mechanic. On May 15, 1954, he married Marciel Evelyn Frost in Flint. The couple made their home in Mobile, Alabama where Gene was stationed. Following his discharge they returned to Flint, later moving to Swartz Creek, Michigan.
Gene worked in the payroll office at GM Parts Division in Swartz Creek until retirement. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Flint. Following retirement, Gene and Marciel made their cottage at Hubbard Lake, Michigan their permanent residence. While there, they were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado, Michigan and served in Gideons International. The couple returned to Swartz Creek in 2014.
Gene was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a good friend who was known for his courtesy, honesty and generosity. At Hubbard Lake and elsewhere, with family and his many friends, he enjoyed many recreational activities including motorcycling, biking, running, skating, skiing, fishing and boating. Also, he was a passionate fan of Michigan football and basketball. Go Blue!
He is survived by three children, Pamela and husband, Jeff Kowalcyk of Davison, Robert Lindstrom and wife, Susan of Ypsilanti, Ray Lindstrom and wife, Pam of Swartz Creek; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Lisa, Mark, Kristen, Christa, Rebekah, James, Erik and Paige; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marciel (December 2020), his parents and brother, Jackie.
