KOLACHECK, Ervin J. Â Age 78, of Swartz Creek, died quietly in his sleep, Saturday, March 11, 2006. A memorial service will be held 7 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until the time of service. Ervin was born in Swartz Creek on October 9, 1927 to Joseph and Marie (Cupal) Kolacheck. He served in the U.S. Army as a telegraph operator, intercepting coded messages. He lived in Swartz Creek his entire life, working as a ballroom dance instructor, an independent building contractor, farmer, and Housing Code Enforcement Supervisor for the City of Flint until he retired in 1985 after 15 years of service. He loved to fish, hunt, do crossword puzzles, and played a mean game of scrabble. He spoke Czech fluently, and particularly enjoyed listening to the Czech music programs on the radio on Sunday mornings. Ervin was a man of integrity; moral, generous, honest, kind, gracious, compassionate and non-judgmental. He was a devoted family man with a great sense of humor and a romantic nature. He is survived by; his loving children, Steven Hauger, Kathryn Standal, Melanie Kolacheck, Joseph Kolacheck, and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Kolacheck. Also surviving are; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brothers Albin (Ernie) and Alfred Kolacheck. He was preceded in death by; his parents; sister, Ann Nechvil; his son, Alan; and the love of his life, his wife, Grace. Ervin was a shining example of what a good man should be.
