Ernie Eckerdt Sr.

ECKERDT, Ernest Henry, Sr. -- Age 86 of Swartz Creek, died January 31, 2022. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 12 at Sharp Funeral  Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream will be available on Ernie's obituary page at www.sharpfunealhomes.com). Luncheon to follow. Pastor Jon Gildner officiating. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday, February 10 and Friday, February 11 at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to Swartz Creek Fire Department. Ernest was born May 5, 1935 in Flint the son of Alexander and Mary (Neiderquill) Eckerdt. He lived in Swartz Creek his entire life. He graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1954. He married Shirley A. Anderson, August 7, 1954 in Flint and she preceded him in death October 12, 2009. Ernest was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed at General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker, retiring in 1993 with 37 years of service. He was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene, a lifetime member of Flint, American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, Mundy Township Volunteer Program MVP (now Metro Police). He is survived by his children, Ernie Eckerdt Jr. of Swartz Creek, Cory Jo (Mike) Bostwick of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Sedrick, Dominic, and Whitney Fornari all of Swartz Creek; nephew Mark Eckerdt of Grand Blanc; and special family friend, Tony Fornari (Christine Butcher) of Grand Blanc. He is also preceded in death by; his brothers, Albert and Alex Eckerdt.
