Erich Sippert

SIPPERT, Erich N.- Age 86, of Flushing, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2016 at Brookdale of Genesee Valley, Flint Township. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 27 at the Elms Road Church of God, 2393 S. Elms Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastors David Goertzen and Sieg Schuler officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and also 10 AM until time of service at the church on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Christian Unity Press. Erich was born September 17, 1929 in Lutsk, Ukraine, the oldest of six children of Ferdinand and Olga (Wuerfel) Sippert. He gave his life to Jesus Christ as a young man in Knesebeck, Germany, and was baptized the following year. He immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada in 1950 where he met his wife Olga Hembruch. They married on July 15, 1951. He attended the Elms Road Church of God where he humbly applied his God given talents in the furtherance of God's Kingdom serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years. He will be remembered as being one who "loved God first." As was evidenced by his life, Erich's priority was to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He especially took pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and church family. Before losing his eyesight, he enjoyed reading, exploring new technology and the internet. Erich worked as an electrician and electrical engineer and was known for using his knowledge and experience to help others. In 1990 he retired from General Motors V-8 Engine plant with 33 years of service. Surviving are: Olga, wife of 64 years; three sons, Harold, Norbert and wife Nancy, George and wife Karin; four grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, Lauren and Michael Sippert; sisters, Ellie Moos and Edith Graf of Toronto, ON; brothers, Ernest Sippert of Toronto, ON and Erwin (Dawna) Sippert of Ottawa, ON; brother-in-law, Karl Schechinger; many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Erika Schechinger. Tributes may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
