SHOEBRIDGE, Emory Jason - age 94, of Swartz Creek, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. A private interment service has taken place at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. He was born in Saginaw County to Jay and Anna Shoebridge on July 29, 1915. At age three the family moved from the farm to the City of Saginaw where his father found regular work. During his youth, summers were spent working on his uncle's farm or for the Saginaw School Board. In 1936 after graduating from Arthur Hill High School, he started to work at AC Spark Plug in Flint. While there he met and married Mary T. Mechura in 1940. In 1941 a son, Russell was born. In 1945 he enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NJ. After completing his basic training he remained on the base as a member of their Ship Company Training Staff. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to work at AC until retirement in 1976 after 38 years of service. Most of his time there was spent as a supervisor in the Quality Control department. He and his family enjoyed retirement spending their summer and fall between their northern cottage and home. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and eating out with friends. Surviving is: son, Russell Shoebridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. The family extends a special thanks to caregivers Laurie and Ashlee.
