LEONARD, Emma Margery - Age 100, of Gaines, died on February 7, 2015 at her home. "I WAS TIRED SO I SET THE SAILS FOR PARADISE YOUR HEART NEED NOT BE TROUBLED - BELIEVE COME AND BE WHERE I AM. MY FAITH, MY HOPE, MY PRAYERS I PASS ON TO YOU. IT'S WORTH FAR MORE THAN THE TRINKETS AND DOLLARS YOU WILL RECEIVE." Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Mr. Randy Woodin officiating. Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Genesee County Humane Society or a charity of one's choice. Emma was born in Manitoba, Canada October 23, 1914. The daughter of Alonzo and Emma Melick. She married Leo Leonard October 2, 1937 in Clio and he preceded her in death March 15, 1988. She was a member of Dimond United Methodist Church and enjoyed leading the Adult Bible Class. She liked to read and write stories and memories. She was well known for her homemade bread. Surviving are: son, Lloyd (Janice) Markell; daughters, Melva Sandusky, Luzetta (Charles) Chandler, Emma (John) Collins, Lela Tabor, Beryl (Randy) Woodin; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews, and special friends, Phyllis Terry and Eugene Turner. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; husband, Leo; daughter's, Janice Buys and Leona Briggs; and grandson's, Jonathon and Thomas Briggs.
