KRUSE, Elwyn Leroy Gilbert, age 88, of Byron, passed away, Friday, August 30, 2019, at McLaren-Flint. In accordance with Elwyn's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held 11 AM Monday, September 9, 2019 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N Adelaide St, Fenton, MI. Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland will officiate with burial following in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Elwyn was born on April 25, 1931, in Port Huron, the son of Frank and Lillian (Sager) Kruse. He graduated from Grayling High School, class of 1951. Elwyn would continue to serve proudly in the Untied States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharged in 1955. He and Shirley were united in marriage on February 7, 1959, in Caro. Elwyn worked for General Motors for 30 years as a supervisor before his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Kruse; daughter, Kimberly Giesey; sons; Marvin Kruse (Barbara Nakkula) and Richard Kruse; five grandchildren, Adam (Neyeli) Giesey, Jamie (Justin) Nielsen, Austin (Hayley) Giesey, Jacob (Alyssa) Kruse, and Sarah (Matthew) Hauck; and five great-grandchildren. Elwyn is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Kruse; granddaughter, Shannon Giesey; and four brothers, Donald, Norman, Loren, and Larry.
