Elwyn Clayton CARLTON

March 29, 1932 — January 19, 2011

CARLTON, Elwyn Clayton -- Age 78, of Flint, died January 19, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 24, 2011 at North Baptist Church, 4004 Lennon Rd, Flint, Pastor Todd Meece officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday and 1-8 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek. Visitation will also take place 10AM until the time of service at the Church on Monday. Contributions can be made to the North Baptist Church Building Fund. Elwyn was born March 29, 1932 in Flint, the son of Mehl and Carrie Bell (Buchanan) Carlton. He married Barbara "Marie" Loewen in Flint on December 29, 1951. Elwyn graduated from Central High School and worked for General Motors before retiring in 1987. He was a choir and song director for 20 years at Trinity Baptist Church in Flushing, a youth director and started baseball programs for kids who never played. Elwyn enjoyed making people laugh and he was everyone's friend. Surviving are: wife, Marie of Flint Township; children, Diane (Dan) Crane of Flushing, Douglas (Jeraline) Carlton of Flint Township, Renee (David) Juhl of Linden; ten grandchildren, Peter (Becky) Crane, Tracy Carlton, Scott Crane, Leighann (Jaft) Sammons, Timothy (Dana) Crane, Holly Carlton, "Buddy" Douglas (Monica) Carlton II, Bradley Crane, Jamie Juhl, Mitchell Juhl; four great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Ethan, Max, Marin; two brothers, Glen and Jerry Carlton; sister-in-law, Mary Carlton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Max; and brother, Wayne. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
