Elvin Debrell Brittain

September 10, 1914 — February 18, 2005

BRITTAIN, Elvin Debrell  Age 90, of Lennon, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Pines of Durand. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, February 21, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek with Rev. Jon Clifton officiating. Interment will be held at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to First Congregational Church of Durand. Mr. Brittain was born September 10, 1914 in Olin, NC, the son of Phoenecia and Minnie (Cline) Brittain. He married Mary Luna Smith on November 13, 1937 and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2004. Mr. Brittain retired from General Motors V8 Engine plant in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a member of U.A.W. 659 and had attended Durand Church of the Nazarene and Lennon United Methodist Church. Mr. Brittain enjoyed collecting old records and phonographs and refinishing furniture. Surviving are: four children, Rosemary E. and husband, Merle Woodworth of Durand, Frank H. Brittain of Swartz Creek, Ruby A. and husband, Michael Jewel of Gaines, Glenn D. Brittain and wife, Cathy of Lennon; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vista Bustle of McLeansville, NC, Neva and husband, Paul Hyer of Ashville, NC; brother, Hugh Brittain and wife, Winnie of Shelby, NC; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: parents; brother, Arbela Brittain. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Pines of Durand for their loving care.
