Tondu, Elton "Al" - Age 93, of Flint, died October 7, 2019. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, October 14 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Rd., Flint, Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Interment in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday with a 7 PM Rosary at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Elton was born August 1, 1926 in Flint the son of Henry Arthur Tondu and Rosa Alvina (Diebolt) Tondu. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in WWII. His nickname was "The Bull" and he earned it. He married Donna Mae (Ericson) Tondu on July 16, 1949 in Flint. Donna preceded him in death May 28, 2019. He and Donna owned and operated Al and Donna's Lounge and Restaurant for many years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the VFW.
Surviving are: sons, Ron (Connie) Tondu of Flint, Randy Tondu of Burton, Roger (Anna) Tondu of Flint; daughters, Roxane (Al) Dinnan of Flint, Kimberly (Rick) Leonard of Flint; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Rick; and two sisters, Mary Vinette (Tondu) Vanderford and Rose Avalon (Tondu) Skellett. Trributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
