SULLIVAN, Elsworth James - of Swartz Creek, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the age of 94. He was a graduate of Northern Michigan University and received his masters degree from Michigan State University. He and his family came to Swartz Creek in 1942 where he was employed as a coach in the Swartz Creek School System. He spent 19 years with the Mt. Morris Public Schools serving as Principal for 9 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a lieutenant at the time of discharge. Mr. Sullivan was an avid golfer and was extremely proud of getting a hole-in-one and shooting an Eagle at the age of 88. He leaves two daughters: Shirley Henry (Richard) of Pinckney, Nancy Shannon of Burt; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. His wife, Ruth preceded him in death, as did a daughter, Sheila Sullivan and granddaughter, Alison VanDyke. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place 11 AM Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.
