Elmer George Peters, age 94, of Green Valley, Arizona, formerly of Flint, died May 10, 2014. He was born September 16, 1919, in Port Huron, Michigan, to the late Cora and George Peters. Elmer was a retired funeral director. At the time of his retirement he was a managing partner at Brown Funeral Home in Flint, Michigan. Prior to his employment at Brown's, he managed Reigle Funeral Home in Flint, Michigan. He owned his own funeral home in Yale, Michigan (now Kaatz Funeral Home), from 1947-1960, where he raised his family. He was in the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his daughter, Patricia (James) Bruner of Green Valley, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Peters of Fenton, Michigan; grandson, Mark (Elizabeth) Peters of Swartz Creek, Michigan; granddaughter, Diane (Jarrett) Volzer, of Calhoun, Georgia; great-grandson, Justin Volzer; great-granddaughter, April Volzer; niece and nephew, Kay Rufener and William (Wilanne) Kimball. His wife of 73 years, Frances, died April 5, 2012; their son, Lawrence, died March 8, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Valley Presbyterian Church, Green Valley, with The Reverend Lawrence DeLong officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron, Michigan. Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project are suggested.
