Elmer William GERRED

GERRED, Elmer William - Age 93, of Fenton, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Crestmont Nursing Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 1, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, with Pastor E. Taveirne officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5-9 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Fenton United Methodist Church. Elmer was born October 25, 1916 in Flint, the son of Perry and Elizabeth (Stowell) Gerred. He attended Flint Central High School. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp, where he was a gunner on a B-24. He married Eileen Grace Card June 18, 1951 in Indiana and she preceded him in death October 19, 2009. Elmer retired in 1981 from Summerfield Chevrolet as an Auto Body Painter. Surviving are: sister, Mary Jean and husband Bernard Thompson of Suttons Bay; step son-in-law, Francis Belill of Fenton; 4 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter, Barbara Belill; stepson, Kenneth Allen; stepmother, Virginia Gerred; 2 brothers, James and Harold Gerred; sister, Geraldine Hinspeter.
