Ella Vanderhoff

Vanderhoff, Ella Ruth, of Flint, Age 84, took an early flight to Heaven February 5, 2016. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016, at More Life Tabernacle, 6430 Lennon Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Jerry F.J. Stoner, officiating. Visitation Friday, February 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at More Life Tabernacle. Arrangements provided by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek. Mrs. Vanderhoff was characterized by kindness, discretion, and love. She was a trusted confidante to many, and a servant first to God, second to family, and then to her fellow man. She worked for Central Trucking Company from 1964 - 1985, Kelly Services, mostly at the GMPD from 1985 - 1993, and as the secretary-treasurer for More Life Tabernacle from 1991 until her death. She served faithfully in ministry alongside her husband, the Rev. M. F. Vanderhoff, for 63 years until his death on October 18, 2014. Born in a log cabin in Myrtle, MO, January 9, 1932, Ella was the 4th child of Arthur and Vicie (Gaither) Newman. As Ella grew, she became "little mother to the others" who were younger than she. Ella is dearly beloved by all of her family and countless "adopted" family, her church, and work friends made through the years. Ella's life motto sincerely was "What would Jesus do?" She was preceded in death by her parents; Brothers Arthur J. and E. Ray Newman, sisters Opal Janice and Virginia Crawford; and her beloved husband. Ella is survived by sister Ann Casto of Rockford, IL; Brother Ira (Pat) Newman of Perris, CA; Sister Wilma (Jerry) Rushing of Parsons, TN; Daughter, Denise Lynn; Sons Arthur Theron (Julia) and Mark Allen Vanderhoff of Greenwood, IN, Jim (Wendy) Arremony of Waterford, MI. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Russ) Kacin, of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Melodie (Josh) Lange, of Clarkston, MI; Arthur (Christina) Vanderhoff II, of St. Louis, MO; Benjamin Vanderhoff, Luke Vanderhoff and Emily Vanderhoff, of Greenwood, IN; 8 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Eleanor, Kathryn and James Kacin, Gabriel Lange, Ruthanne, Elijah and Caleb Vanderhoff; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
