Elizabeth Chapman Zumwalt

ZUMWALT, Elizabeth Chapman - Age 83, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Abbey Park, Grand Blanc. Private arrangements are entrusted to Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 

Elizabeth was born on January 31, 1940 in Pearisburg, Virginia the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Hall) Givens. She graduated from Pearisburg High School. Elizabeth continued her education at Lynchburg College, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Education.  She was united in marriage to Donald Zumwalt on August 10, 1962.  Most recently, Elizabeth worked as an Executive Assistant for Christian Church Disciples of Christ until her retirement. She served the churches as an organist and pianist where her husband was a pastor. She enjoyed beingoutdoors, especially hiking, bird watching, gardening, yard work and had a passion flowers of all kinds. Elizabeth stayed active as long as she was able to. In her free time, she liked to play cards, mostly Canasta with her Grandchildren where there was always lots of friendly competition. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Zumwalt; children, Michael Zumwalt, Julie (Peter) Juengel, Scott (Tess) Zumwalt and Lisa (Stuart) Thomajan; grandchildren, Jordan, Amy (Nick), Jason, Aidan, Zayne, Zach and Cooper; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Jo.
